COVID-19 response

As a responsible driving instructor I take seriously the risks from COVID-19 both to myself (as someone who is at high risk from the virus)

and also to my customers (many of whom are also at high risk).

Set out below are the steps I will take to ensure the car is as

covid safe as reasonably practicable, but there are also things

you can do to help keep me and my other customers safe.

What I will do

During lessons

  • I will wear a face covering inside the car (this is now a legal requirement).

  • One window on each side will be open to allow fresh air to flow through the car.

  • We will spend time outside the car when possible.

Myself

  • I will take a lateral flow test on all days that I conduct lessons.

  • I will fully participate in the NHS Test & Trace scheme by checking into venues and self-isolate if I come into contact (within 7 days) with anyone who has tested positive.

  • If I develop symptoms, I will cancel lessons, and self-isolate if I test positive.

Sanitising

  • I will regularly use hand sanitise and wash my hands with soap and water whenever possible.

  • I will sanitise the car every time the driver changes.

  • I will deep clean the car at least once a week.

What you can do

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, please contact me ASAP on 07780 470779.

  • Have you had any cold/flu like symptoms, a cough, a loss or change of taste/smell, fever, headache or fatigue in the last 10 days?

  • Are you waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test?

  • Have you tested positive for COVID-19 since your last driving lesson?

  • Have you had any cold/flu like symptoms, a cough, a loss or change of taste/smell, fever, headache or fatigue since your last driving lesson?

  • Have you had any contact with anyone with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the last 7 days?

Before/after lessons, please wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, I can also provide hand sanitiser for use during lessons.

You must wear a face covering whilst inside the car unless you are medically exempt - please discuss this with me before lessons commence if you are. Please note: this is now a legal requirement.

Current advice is to take a rapid lateral flow test before any driving lessons or tests. If you do not have any tests, you can order them online to be delivered to your home or find out about collecting them from a local pharmacy or local test site here.

When I contact you on the day before your lesson, please let me know if you answer 'yes' to any of the above questions.

Please let me know if you are planning to travel abroad or have recently returned from abroad.

Due to my vulnerability and that of some of my customers, I need to take additional precautions. Although the legal requirement to self-isolate is being removed for some people, I still feel it's too much of a risk to conduct lessons for people who have recently been in contact with someone who has/may have COVID-19. The government has given us all individual responsibility to manage the risk from COVID-19 and I feel that means we all need to work together to keep each other safe.
