Getting to know your dashboard is an important part of owning a vehicle – you need to know which lights should be there and which lights should not. Some lights you would expect to see whilst driving and others are more of a problem.
Generally there is a colour coded system:
Red – there’s a potential serious problem that needs urgent attention
Amber – something has happened that needs investigating or servicing
Green/blue – a system is working or switched on
Your vehicle may be unsafe to drive if a red light is on. Your vehicle will fail a MOT if a light is illuminated.
Further information can be found in the vehicle handbook so it’s worth keeping this in the vehicle to refer to if necessary.
